In the book of Genesis God created the whole world and everything that is in it. Every rock, person, tree, ocean, and animal God created. Everything on Earth belongs to God.
In the Bible in Psalm 95:4-5 (NIV) it says “4 In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him. 5 The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.”
Everything on Earth belongs to the Creator, not the human race. Due to the fall and sin, humans have taken advantage of creation in the names of progress.
Oceans are being polluted and over fished, rainforests are cut down, animals are becoming endangered or pushed to extinction, and humans live wasteful lifestyles which all impacts the natural balance of the environment.
But Christians around the world are taking up the call to environmental stewardship of God’s people and the earth that He created.
There are many organizations around the world that focus on spreading the gospel, aiding God’s people, and environmental stewardship. A few of the organizations include:Plant with Purpose, Care of Creation, A Rocha Trust, Wayland Baptist University, and many more.
In their statement about the Biblical foundations for environmental stewardship Wayland Baptist University said, “Too often our prosperity in the developed world and progress in the developing world is directly tied to actions that weaken the integrity of God’s creation.”
It is time for Christians to love their Earth by loving God’s creation. Love all people, better respect nature that provides so much while you live on earth, and be thankful for the God that created it all.
