Oklahoma Baptist University’s Theta Sigma Chi Women’s Social Club – February 22, 2017 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Theta Sigma Chi is the oldest women’s club on OBU campus and it is in the midst of the busiest part of the year: new member training. Rush has come and gone and Theta Sigma Chi has added 20 new members to their family.
Rush was held in February the week of the 6th through the 11th. The Thetas were able to show the potential new members what their club is all about through their history, traditions, the diversity, service, and social aspects of the club.
In the picture below it shows 15 of the 20 new members who accepted their bids and are beginning the six week training process that is necessary to become a full member of the social club.
The Thetas meet on Monday nights from about 7-9 p.m. The first hour the old members and the new members meet separately to get information from officers for service and social events. From 8-9 new member training is completed, which is called Theta Night Outs (or TNOs for short).
TNOs are designed to help teach the new members the history, legacy, constitution, the traditions, and allow for the new members to get to know the older members of Thetas. Some of the facts that they are taught are the club symbols, the club verse: Ephesians 4:16, the club colors, chants, and much more.
On Thursday Feb 23 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. the Thetas will be hosting their next social event for the new members. Progressive Family Pazookie Night has been organized by the New Member Moms Amber Isaac and Brooke Dillman to allow for the 20 new members to spend time outside of meetings getting to know the older members, and potentially their new big.
The New Member Class of 2017 has successfully completed two weeks worth of new member training. TNO’s are a vital part in the Big & Little relationship process.
On Monday Feb 27th after the meeting and TNO the club will begin the Big Little picking process. The Thetas utilize a selection process that allows the old members and new members to mutually rank who they would like their Big or Little to be. By the end of the night the Bigs will be notified as to who their Little is and “Spoil your Little Week” will officially begin.
Big Little Reveal Night is scheduled for March 6th.
